Amid partisan clashes, lawmakers manage stunning moments of unity

The coronavirus legislative session of 2020 ended like a slow-moving train derailment, as legislators wrapped up the session with emotional, partisan debates over abortion and absentee voting. But along the way, there have been some golden moments of harmony, of such genuine bipartisan cooperation and responsiveness to Iowans that it could almost restore one’s faith in government.
