June 21, 1995: In a surprise announcement, Petersen Properties LLC of Rock Island agreed to purchase the abandoned Caterpillar factory building in Mt. Joy. Two Petersen companies, Petersen Tire Mounting Inc. and Petersen Warehousing Corp. would be moving from the Quad Cities Industrial Center in Rock Island and would now be operating out of the plant.
