1980: Long Grove citizens oppose park

Aug. 21, 1980: A group of Long Grove citizens expressed concern to the city council about a proposed plan to build a park in the Eastwood Estates Addition. The city had accepted a donation of 6.5 acres from Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Schultz. Residents believed proposed baseball diamonds at the park would harm the aesthetic value of the area and create increased traffic in places children might be playing in the street. Council members stated that nothing had been finalized as far as park facilities.
