Aug. 27, 1975: Following the effective date of a new Iowa law, the Scott County Farm Bureau was looking at fire protection in Scott County. The law shifted responsibility of fire protection in areas not covered by a benefitted fire district to the township trustees. James Mohr with the Farm Bureau said the organization was looking to either get these areas into benefitted fire districts or establish a countywide fire protection service. Lester Schick, former Davenport fire chief and now a member of the Scott County Board of Supervisors said he would work with the Farm Bureau on behalf of the county.
