Wilton teams planning breast cancer awareness night June 10

The Wilton softball and baseball teams will be hosting their second annual Breast Cancer Awareness games June 10 when the Beaver baseball and softball teams host Durant for home doubleheaders starting at 5:30 p.m.

All area breast cancer survivors and fighters are invited and will receive free admission. Breast cancer survivors will accompany players when they take the field. There will also be several unique events that night, including a bounce house, 50/50 raffle, silent auction baskets, snow cones, player jersey auctions and more.

All proceeds from Breast Cancer Awareness Night go to Muscatine Radiology for its Mammogram Assistance Program (MAP).

According to Wilton Nutrition Director Terri Denkman, who is a breast cancer survivor herself and one of the event’s organizers, the goal is to get as many survivors to the ballparks as possible.

“If there’s someone out there who’s had breast cancer, we want to hear from you. We’d love to have them here to be honored and able to walk with a player,” Denkman said. “Come out, wear your pink and have a good time.”
