Obit: William Sherwood

    William “Bill” C. Sherwood, 60, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, formerly of Wilton, passed away on Sept. 13, 2017 at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Palm Harbor, Florida.

    A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation in Florida. Donations can be mailed to J. Sherwood, P.O. Box 866, Wilton, IA 52778.

    Bill was born in Muscatine on Aug. 31, 1957. In his early years, Bill participated in wrestling, track and football at Wilton High School before graduating in 1976.

    Bill’s love of fishing turned into his life’s work. He started his fishing career shrimping in the Gulf of Mexico based out of Texas. He later moved to Florida where he captained a boat fishing for grouper and snapper in the gulf, always with his canine companion, Cookie.

    Bill will be lovingly remembered by his sisters: Karen Strefling, Kathy (Bob) Bowie and Kristy (Jim) King; his brother Jim Sherwood (Jeanette Taylor); his step-sisters: Monica Lett & Hope, Melisa (Tim) Davies and Marika (Frank) Buckman; his step-brother Randy (Peggy) Lett; his “stepson” Jason (Lybbi) Whitehurst; as well as many nephews and nieces.

    Bill was proceeded in death by his mother Helen Sherwood, his father Robert Sherwood, his stepmother Joylene Sherwood and his brother-in-law Roger Strefling.
