Robert Bruce Hadley “Bob”, 67, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at UNC Nash Healthcare in North Carolina. 

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 7 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Swansboro, North Carolina with Father Don Baribeau officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. There will be a celebration of life service at a later date in Wilton.

Bob was born on Jan. 2, 1951 in Richmond, Virginia, a son of the late, John A. and Mary Ann (Hall) Hadley.

He graduated from Beaufort High School in 1969 and then served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant. Bob then moved to Las Vegas and began what would be his favorite job of all time as a dealer at the Golden Nugget. He retired from Advance Auto in Swansboro as a retail parts pro. 

He was a member of the NRA and loved to spend time traveling with his wife and going to see Kenny Rogers in concert. He also loved playing online poker, Steven King novels, Sci-Fi movies, bowling and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lori (Hartley) Hadley, whom he married on Sept. 4, 1999 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, of the home; daughter, Hannah Swinson of Midway Park, North Carolina; four grandchildren; brothers, John Hadley, Jr. (Tanis) of Colombia, Maryland, Michael Hadley (Cindy) of Cedar Point, North Carolina and James Hadley (Danielle) of Swansboro; brother and sister-in-laws, Richard and Patricia Hartley of Carroll, Iowa, Thomas and Deborah Hartley of Wilton and Wesley Furne; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Roland and Betty Hartley, and sisters-in-law, Kathryn Furne and Susan Hartley.
