Randall “Randy” Eugene Cain died at home on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018.

Family and friends held a celebration of life at the West Liberty Community Center on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. Additional visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Additional time of sharing with the family was held following the celebration of life.

Memorials may be made to West Liberty Rescue Unit.

Randy was born on May 14, 1954 in Iowa City, the son of Edward “Gene” Eugene and Jane Lee (Eichenour) Cain. He loved the farm of his youth and remained there with his mom after Gene and Jane divorced.

Randy attended Tipton schools and obtained his GED in 1999. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and Harley trips. Randy met Dixie Babcock on a Friday evening in May of 1978; they were married that same July and celebrated 40 years of marriage in 2018. Randy and Dixie became parents in 1985 when Rachel was born.

Randy was employed in construction for many years. He worked for W. Hodgeman and Son in Fairmont, Minnesota; Barker and Co. in Iowa City; L.L. Pelling in Iowa City and later Walnut Grove Feeds in West Liberty for 17 years. Later in life, Randy worked part-time for Liqui-Grow and Danner Farms.

Randy is survived by wife Dixie; daughter Rachel (Israel) Trevizo of North Liberty; grandson Oliver and grandson due November 2018; mother: Phyllis of West Liberty; brothers: Terry Cain and Billy (Connie) Cain, both of Tipton; mother-in-law Joyce Kaufmann of Wilton; an aunt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Gene Cain, brothers: Mark and Ronnie Cain, mother Jane Cain, an uncle, sister-in-law Diane Cain and father-in-law Fred Kaufmann.
