    Loris “Dean” Henderson, 86, of Durant, died on Thursday, Jan. 4 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

    Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 8 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Funeral services followed at noon.

    Interment took place at the Durant Cemetery.

    Memorials may be made to the Durant Cemetery in his memory.

    Dean was born in Davis County on May 9, 1931, a son of Glenn D. and Era “Fay” (White) Henderson.

    He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

    Dean married Lois A. “Loey” Piersall on June 5, 1954 in Davenport.

    He owned and operated Henderson Sinclair at five points in Davenport and retired in 1993 from Titon Wheel in Walcott. He served on the board and worked at the Durant Cemetery for many years.

    He was a member of Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett. He enjoyed cutting down trees.

    Dean is remembered by his wife of 63 years, Lois “Loey” of Durant; his daughters: Lavetta “Vetta” (Danny “Pete”) Meyer of Dixon, Linda (Brian) Brooks of Durant and LaDeana “Deana” (Sean) Moeller of New Liberty; his sons: Lynn (Charlene) Henderson of Durant and LaVern “Shorty” (Julia) Henderson of Muscatine; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister Karen (Gordon) Guffey of Davenport; and his brother Harold “Cotton” (Lois) Henderson of Sigourney.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Jennifer Meyer, his sisters: Martha Parchert and Normalee Calvert and his brother Harvey Henderson.
