Gerald “Red” Moeller, 88, went to his eternal home on Oct. 8, 2018 in Deforest, Wisconsin.
Burial and a memorial will be held on June 15, 2019 in Wilton.
Donations can be made to Heartland Hospice in his memory.
Gerald was born in Wilton on April 6, 1930. After graduating he joined the Navy where he served aboard the USS Midway as an airplane mechanic during the Korean conflict. After serving, he returned to Wilton and worked as an auto mechanic at his business, United Motors Co.
He married Sally Alexander in 1960 and helped raise her three children and later their own two daughters. He had a midlife crisis in 1972 when they bought and ran a resort in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. In 1986 they moved to Pardeeville, Wisconsin where he worked at Marcellon Marine for his bother-in-law Jim Watson.
When he retired, they would winter in Arizona, visiting with their children along the way. He could build or repair anything and became an accomplished woodcarver in later years.
Gerald is survived by his wife Sally; five children: Robert (Lori) Alexander of Kansas, Laurie (Mark) Worland of Wisconsin, Stuart Alexander of Illinois, Carol (Mark) Engen and Nancy Moeller of Minnesota; a sister Lois (Keith) Owens of Wilton; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Gertrude and Herbert, sisters Irene Wacker and Mary Ellen White and brother Rollie Moeller.
