Dallas L. Mayerhofer, 87, of Muscatine, died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at his home following an 11-year battle with cancer.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31 at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant.

Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of your choice.

Dallas was born in Cedar County on Sept. 13, 1931, the son of Lawrance W. and Pearl V. (Petersen) Mayerhofer.

He graduated from Durant High School in 1949.

Dallas married Darlene D. (Harmon) Price on Aug. 17, 1985 in Muscatine.

He farmed in Muscatine and Cedar counties for most of his life. Dallas was a horseshoer and horse appraiser.

He was a member of Sweetland United Methodist Church, Iowa Quarter Horse Association and AQHA.

Dallas is remembered by his wife Darlene; his daughters: Kathy Ploen of Davenport, Deborah (Kerry) Tate of Weatherford, Texas and Susan Bizarri of Atkinson, Illinois; his son Chad (Kelly) Mayerhofer of Milan; his other son Donald (Vivian) Reed of Durant; his stepchildren: Sherry Miller of Silvis, Tracy Price of Punta Gorda, Florida and Brad Price of Warren, Michigan; nine grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law Vernon Ploen and his stepson Barry Price.
