Arla K. (Schutt) Garlough Brown, 71, of Durant, died on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 9 from 4 until 6 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. at Chapman’s with Reverend Eric Swenson officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Wheatland.

Arla was born on Dec. 24, 1947 in Davenport to Arlo and Doris (Selhaver) Schutt. She married Jim Garlough in 1969 and they later divorced. He passed away in 2014. Arla then married Roy Brown in 1994. He also passed away.
Arla loved to play bingo and in her earlier years enjoyed camping, fishing and going to drag races.
Arla is survived by her children: Shawn (Robin) Garlough of Clinton, Bill (Wendy) Garlough of Reynolds, Illinois and Carrie (James) Chaplin of Durant; grandchildren: Nichole, Destiny, Tiffani, Catie, Sam, Andrew and Chris; three great-grandchildren; sister, Linda (Larry) Whittaker of Lakeland, Florida; brother, Mark Schutt of Oxford Junction; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
