Melvin Rohwedder to celebrate 90th birthday

Melvin Rohwedder of Stockton, residing in New Liberty, will celebrate his 90th birthday on Aug. 10 with a family gathering in Durant and a dinner in Walcott.

Melvin Rohwedder was born Aug. 7, 1929 at Mercy Hospital in Davenport. He married Eleanor Schaeffer on Feb. 14, 1953 in Davenport. The couple farmed near Stockton and retired in 1992. Melvin was employed by Oscar Mayer for 25 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Melvin is a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and a member of the Durant American Legion. He enjoys working outside and spending time with his family.

His family includes children Sherri (Scott) Mohr of Stockton, Kurt Rohwedder of Davenport, Todd Rohwedder of New Liberty and twin daughters Karen and Sharon (both deceased); grandchildren Justine Mohr, Meghan (Nick) Hall, Kristyn (Xavier) Robledo and Jacob Mohr; and great-grandchildren Kellie, Kylie, Noah, Eli, Kaylie, Kayla, Landon, Francisco, Penelope and Tessa.
