Raymond Kroeger will celebrate his 80th birthday on Wednesday, Jan. 3 with his family.
Ray was born in Durant to Emil and Mable (Meier) Kroeger. His brothers and sisters were: Elmer Kroeger, Irene (Chris) Schult, Henry (Phyllis) Kroeger, Henrietta (Elmer) Wenndt, Leroy (Dorothy) Kroeger and Alvin Kroeger.
He married Joan Schaeffer and they farmed in the Durant and Sunbury area before Ray went to work at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Mt. Joy until his retirement. After that he worked several other jobs including Sunbury Elevator, Bennett School and Hy-Vee in Davenport.
Ray’s children are Allen Kroeger of Wilton, Linda (Jim) Connell of Davenport and the late Joni. His grandchildren are Melissa Connell, Nathan Kroeger, Andrew Kroeger, Zachary Connell and Christopher Connell. He has one great-grandson, Kellen.
