Jake Soy to be inducted into Northwest Missouri State HOF

MARYVILLE, MISSOURI – The 2019 Northwest Missouri State University M-Club Hall of Fame class has been announced. Seven former student-athletes/coaches/administrators will be inducted this fall.

The Class of 2019’s individual inductees include early age inductees Venus Harris (women’s track and field), Dale Kisker (baseball) and David Crozier (NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative) along with modern age inductees Malcolm Harrison (men’s tennis), Danae (Wagner) Ites (women’s basketball), Tyler Shaw (men’s track & field/football) and Jake Soy (football). The ages have been established to ensure a focus on candidates from throughout the history of Bearcat athletics. The modern age includes candidates from the last 30 years, while the early age includes candidates from 31-plus years and earlier.

The Class of 2019 will be inducted into the M-Club Hall of Fame during the annual festivities on Friday, Oct. 25 in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom and will be recognized during the Homecoming football game on Sat., Oct. 26. Tickets for the Friday evening banquet are $25 each and may be purchased by contacting Kiersten Orton (korton@nwmissouri.edu) in the athletics office at 660-562-1977. Seating for the event is limited and the deadline to reserve your spot at the banquet is Oct. 18, or until tickets are sold out.

The 2019 class will bring the total of individual inductees to 153. The M-Club Hall of Fame was established for individuals in 1980 and teams were first enshrined beginning in 1989.

Jake Soy graduated from Durant High School in 2007. He attended Northwest Missouri State from 2008-2011. He had a stellar career, including the following accomplishments:

* Northwest’s all-time TD reception leader (45); single-game TD reception leader (4 – twice)

* Led the nation and set MIAA marks for receiving yards (1,559) and TD receptions (27) in the 2009

* 27 receiving TDs was the third-highest total in NCAA Div. II history

* Ranks No. 2 at Northwest in single-season receptions (92)

* No. 3 in receiving yards (3,687)

* No. 4 in receptions (222)

* Tied-No. 7 all-time TDs scored (45)

* 2009 Daktronics, D2Football.com 1st Team

* 2009 AP Little All-America 2nd Team

* 2009, 2010 MIAA 1st Team

* 2009 Don Hansen Rookie of Year – 1st Team All-America
