Durant High School grads receive numerous honors

Durant High School commencement was held May 20 in the high school gym. The top 10 percent of the 2017 graduating classes include: Amanda Wiese, Samantha Kutcher, Kaitlyn Wiese and Lauren Ralfs. Amanda Wiese was also named valedictorian while Samantha Kutcher was named salutatorian.

Department awards went to the following: Amanda Wiese for math, Curtis Lilienthal for P.E., Kaitlyn Wiese for science, Madison Sloan for ELA and choir, Samantha Kutcher for social studies, Aubrey Doerscher for Spanish, Emily Seligman for band, William Macchiaverna for art, Cole Stineman for Industrial Tech, Davison Weber for FCS and Amorae Myers for drama.

Recipients of the Academic D-Gold awards were students with a final cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The Academic D-Silver awards went to students with a GPA of 3.0 to 3.4.
