Duffes to note 70th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Duffe of Wilton, formerly of Moscow, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Margaret Hendricks and Ralph Duffe were united in marriage on Nov. 7, 1948 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilton. Rev. Hugh P. Roberts was the minister. Margaret’s brother William “Bill” Hendricks served as the best man. Ralph’s sister Mrs. Elmer (Leona) Hagge served as the bridesmaid. As was tradition, the wedding and reception were held at the church.

Ralph was a farmer in Moscow on the farm where he was born. Margaret was a farm wife who helped her husband and raised five sons. Before getting married she worked at Bellview Hospital in Muscatine and at the Candy Kitchen in Wilton Junction.

Ralph is a Mason in Wilton and liked to remodel houses. They are both members of Purity Chapter 365, Order of the Eastern Star holding offices as treasurer and Ralph as sentinel. Margaret is also the secretary of Sunset Housing in Wilton.

They are the parents of David (Carol) Duffe of Moscow, Ronald (Debra) Duffe of Franklin, Tennessee, Allan (Julia) Duffe of Wilton, Gary (Joy) Duffe of Moscow and Steven (Patricia) Duffe of Moscow.

They have 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and another on the way.
