Community on display during pandemic

I started my administrative career in Wilton as the assistant high school principal/activities director in the fall of 2001. Less than a month into that role, the terrorist attacks of 9/11 occurred. Although the COVID-19 pandemic is different in nature there are a lot of similarities as we face uncertain times and anxiety of what the future holds.

The ray of sunshine I witnessed in 2001 and again in 2020 is the resiliency and good that is brought out in people during these times. Our Wilton and Durant communities have done so much to support our children who are out of school, and parents who are struggling because of economic uncertainty.

I want to thank the school employees, community members and local businesses that have stepped up to help feed, support, encourage and reach out to those in need. The stories that get back to me about these efforts remind me of how blessed I am to be a part of two loving communities.

I encourage everyone to focus on your faith, your families, and your friends — it is what matters the most. Lastly, please support your local businesses not only in these times, but in ALL times. They are the backbone of our communities. God bless.
