Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine grants available to non-profits

MUSCATINE – The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine’s grant application is open. Non-profit, charitable tax-exempt organizations delivering programs and services to residents of Muscatine County are encouraged to apply.
More than $100,000 is available to local non-profits in Muscatine County. Available grants include:

Impact Grants
Impact Grants funded through the County Endowment Re-Granting Program have a $5,000 limit per organization. Up to $60,000 of grant funding is available in this cycle. Focus areas include arts, education, human service, culture, environment, heritage and health.
The County Endowment Re-Granting Program is funded annually by a percentage of the state’s commercial gaming tax revenue. Because the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine is accredited by the National Council of Foundations and qualified by the Iowa Department of Economic Development, we receive these grant dollars and re-grant them for programs, projects and services enhancing the quality of life in Muscatine County.
Additional Impact Grant funding includes:
Hilda E. Collitz for the Homeless—This bequest provides grants for the use and benefit of those in the Greater Muscatine area to prevent homelessness or who are homeless. Up to $5,000 remains in grant funding for this cycle.
Hilda E. Collitz for Housing—This bequest provides grants for the use and benefit of those in the greater Muscatine area for the acquisition of land and/or construction of living spaces to prevent families and individuals from homelessness. Preference will be given to Muscatine Habitat for Humanity’s Muscatine County projects. Up to $2,000 remains in grant funding for this cycle.
George Millett Memorial—A gift from the estate of George Millett is used for grants to benefit those with mental disabilities who are residents of Muscatine County. Up to $2,500 remains in grant funding for this cycle.
Ray Hockersmith Memorial—This fund provides grants for the benefit of the blind, vision impaired or disabled children under the age of 15 to experience special recreational activities. Up to $3,000 remains in grant funding for this cycle.
Pat and Jim Powers Endowment—This fund provides grants aimed at providing mental health programs and services. Up to $600 in grant funding is available in this cycle.

Muscatine Health Support Fund Grants
The Muscatine Health Support Fund’s mission is to encourage, assist, establish, maintain and develop in and for the city of Muscatine and surrounding area, projects to improve the community health and aid the growth and development of the health care system for the community.
The grant is intended to benefit our community’s health care system through:
* Capital improvements
* Pilot or Start-up projects with plans for future funding
* One-time need and medical equipment
Priority will be given to the two community health focus areas identified through the Muscatine County Heath Improvement Plan:
* Mental Health
* Substance Abuse
Up to $40,000 remains in grant funding for this cycle.

West Liberty Community Fund Grants
The Fund allows for a unique opportunity for residents to give back and support the community they care about. The grant is aimed at high impact charitable activities for West Liberty, with a priority given to youth.
Up to $5,000 is available in this granting cycle.
