At approximately 1 a.m. on Jan. 8 the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a female laying on the side of the road on Highway 38 just north of the intersection of county road F70 (155th Street).
Upon the arrival of deputies the female was found to be deceased. The roadway (Highway 38) was shut down so that an investigation could be conducted.
A death investigation is currently underway with the Sheriff’s Office being assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Muscatine County Attorney’s Office. The cause and manor of death as well as the circumstances surrounding this incident are all being examined.
The identity of the female is not being released at this point in time and an autopsy was scheduled to be conduced on Jan. 9.
