Area election results (contested races)

For the first time, area city and school elections were held together in November, with 2019 election night being Nov. 5. What follows are unofficial results from Muscatine and Cedar county contested races.

Muscatine County

In Wilton, incumbent Bob Barrett will serve another term as mayor, defeating challenger Corey Freeman 272-211.

All three incumbent city council members regained their seats. Wayne Budding received 402 votes, Sheryl Lenker received 341 votes and Ted Marolf received 340 votes.

In the Wilton school board race, Tim Barrett led with 393 votes. Current president Linda Duncan received 373 votes and Jeremy Lies received 323 votes to fill the three available seats.

In the Stockton mayoral race, Andrew Reams defeated incumbent Patrick Baker 54-49.

There were three open Stockton city council seats. Winners were Josh Smyser (98 votes), Scott Wolf (59 votes) and Tina Riley (58 votes).

Cedar County

In Bennett, Joe Sparks ran unopposed for mayor and won 39-31 over a write-in campaign.

There were two Bennett city council seats available. Steven Boedeker (69 votes) and Nicole Wolf (43 votes) were the winners.

The public measure dropping the Bennett library board to five members passed with 71 of 81 votes.

The Durant school board had three openings. Winners included Tara Lindsey (251 votes), Travis Bullard (250 votes) and Carla Whitlock (171 votes).
