Apply for the Bennett Siegfried Petersen Scholarship by March 8

Posted

Applications are now available for the Siegfried Petersen Scholarship and can be picked up at Bennett School. The spring of 2019 will be the 15th time that this scholarship will be awarded to at least four deserving individuals. Although the exact figure for the scholarships is uncertain, the amount of each scholarship will be between $500 and $1,000.

At least two scholarships will be awarded to needy applicants of good moral character who reside within the boundaries of the Bennett Community School District.

Two scholarships will also be given to two Cedar County residents. Applicants may pursue any course of studies, undergraduate or graduate level, at any educational institution, which normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum (colleges, universities, nursing schools, technical schools, etc.) public or private. The recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of a one-year program.

It was Mr. Petersen’s desire that the recipients should be people who show a desire to improve their station in life through education and would return those benefits to the community. It is not necessary that the recipient be a top scholar or athlete, but rather a good citizen who expresses a desire to lead a life of service to our community and our country.

Applications can be obtained at the Bennett School office. Applications may also be downloaded from the Bennett School website: www.bennett.k12.ia.us. (Go to the district page, then Siegfried Petersen Scholarship). Please contact Lonna Moeller at 563-890-2228 for an application or more information. The deadline for applications is March 8, 2019.
