Mary “Jerry” Williams, 83, of Wilton, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023. A visitation was held from 4-7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wilton.  A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the church.  Burial took place in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Wilton Public Library.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com. more
Gordon Charles Voeltz, 90, passed on Oct. 11, 2023, at Addington Place, Clinton.  Gordon was born near Lebanon, S.D., on June 28, 1933, the son of Ivan and Mata (Kindt) Voeltz. Gordon graduated in 1951 from Verndale High School in Minnesota. more

On Saturday, Oct. 7, seven Wilton HS Choir basses participated in the RitterSing Tenor/Bass Choir Festival at Wartburg College. The guys got to sing with about 500 other tenors and basses from Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota, as well as one of the best vocal jazz groups in the world, “m-pact.”  more

David Frank Dvorak, 62, of West Liberty, died on Oct. 19, 2023, after a brief illness. The family is deeply saddened by David’s sudden death. more
The Muscatine County Zoning Board shot down a request to create a gun range for police training in Muscatine County on Friday Oct. 7, voting 4-1 to deny the 28-E agreement proposed by the county sheriff’s department and the City of Muscatine. more

Oh, the chaos, the confusion, bitterness, anger, hatred, ineptness, threats of violence, not to mention the failure to do what they were elected to do, and what we are paying them to do, but enough about the Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives. We have seen this coming for a few decades with a rapid acceleration since the descent down the golden escalator by the GOP’s new leader, thanks to the capitulation by mainstream and moderate Republicans. Can’t say I feel sorry for you since you asked for it. more
