39th Annual Founders Day celebration Aug. 16-17

Wilton Founders Day is scheduled to take place on Aug. 16-18 with some brand new events and old time favorites. The schedule this year is as follows:

Friday, Aug. 16 – 4:30 p.m. vendors and beverage area open; 4:30 p.m. bingo at the White Pigeon parking lot; 5 p.m. kids’ tractor pull contest, registration begins at 4:30 p.m.; 4 to 8 p.m. inflatables located on Cedar Street and Fourth Street. There are several new inflatables this year, many of them large and able to host older children; 4 p.m. registration at Elder Park for the new Jr. cornhole tournament (17 and under), first place receives automatic entry into the adult competition; QC Rock Academy on the Toyota of Muscatine Stage; 6 p.m. slow pitch softball tournament at City Park; 7 to 8 p.m. WHS alumni play at the Masonic Temple.

Saturday, Aug. 17 — 6:45 to 8 a.m. Eager Beaver Run registration, watch for location sign; 8 a.m. slow pitch softball tournament begins at City Park; 8 a.m. Eager Beaver 5K run/walk; 9 a.m. kids’ mile run; 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. first round of volleyball tournament; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. duck races in the Candy Kitchen green space; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. inflatables open on Cedar and Fourth Street; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. River City 6 music on Toyota of Muscatine Stage; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Grace United Church of Christ luncheon; 11 a.m. bingo in the White Pigeon parking lot; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wilton Historic Depot to see the display “Featuring displays on the Past Donations,” Grand Marshal open house after the parade; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the 18th annual car show held on Railroad Street, registration at 10 a.m.; 2 p.m. parade with the theme summer fun, registration at 12:15 p.m. in Wilton High School parking lot; 3:30 p.m. the beverage area opens; 3p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Grace United Church of Christ luncheon; 3:30 p.m. volleyball tournament, final round with single elimination; 3:30 to 3:40 p.m. the Wilton Stepperettes will perform on Maurer Street; 3:40 – 4:40p.m. Samantha’s Dance Academy will perform on Maurer Street; 4 p.m. happy hour in the beer garden with specialty beers for chamber members/$10 for non-chamber members; 4:30 p.m. two-person corn hole tournament in Elder Park, registration forms available at chamber office with check in beginning at 4 p.m.; 5 to 7 p.m. Wilton’s Got Talent show at Toyota Stage; 7 to 8p.m. the WHS alumni play will be at the Masonic Temple.

Sunday, Aug. 18 — 10:30 a.m. community church service at Wilton City Park; 11a.m. Wahkonsa Memorial Golf Tournament at Wahkonsa Country Club, four-person best shot.
