Obituary: William Grothusen

William “Bill” Grothusen, 79, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018. Per his wishes, a private, family-only funeral service was held at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

William Grothusen was born June 10, 1939. He graduated from Bettendorf High School.

He married Sheila Rodgers on April 3, 1970.

He worked at Hampton as a crane operator before beginning his career with the U.S. Postal Service. After retirement, he worked at Palmer Golf Course.

His hobbies were spending time with his family, golfing, playing basketball, shooting pool with friends, following sports, and being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Stacey (Don) Stutzke, and Mike (Julie) Grothusen; his grandchildren, Cole and Ally Grothusen and Tori and Megan Stutzke; and a sister-in-law, Evalie (Jack) Grothusen.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Grothusen.

Memorials may be made to Palmer Golf Course, where a memorial will be established in his name.
