Obituary: Vincent Kilburg

A funeral Mass for Vincent P. Kilburg, 76, of Bellevue, was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Bellevue American Legion Post #273. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 8, from 1-4 p.m. at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue, with additional visitation one hour prior to Mass on Monday at the church.

Mr. Kilburg died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at his home.

Vincent Kilburg was born Feb. 23, 1943, on the Kilburg family farm, the son of Dominic and Florence (Weis) Kilburg.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He married Judy Herrig on Nov. 7, 1964, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook.

He was a lifetime farmer.

He was a member of the Bellevue American Legion Post #273, the Pork Producers, and the Cattlemen’s Association.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Lori Kilburg and Lynn (Tina) Kilburg, all of Eldridge, Linda (Randy) Ries, Bellevue, and Sharon (Roger) Pitts, Springbrook; Judy’s siblings whom they raised, Lois Herrig, Davenport, Dan (Renee) Herrig, Clinton, and Doris (Randy) Tuftee, Park View; a daughter-in-law, Bette Herrig; grandchildren, Heather (Eric) Hofmeyer, Jordan (Mallory) Ries, Breanna Kilburg, Brooke Kilburg, Trevor Kilburg, Zach Pitts (Andrea Frank), Megan (Shawn) Hankemeier, Jason (Kristin) Herrig, Jennifer Herrig, Natalee Herrig (Ryan Wilson), Nate (Megan) Herrig, Michael Tuftee, and Mitchel Tuftee; 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Alvin Kilburg, Sally Banowetz, Earl (Catherine) Kilburg, Lloyd Kilburg, Kenny (Jean) Kilburg, Leo (Janis) Kilburg, Vera (Levi) Schmidt, and Dula (Leon) Tebbe.

He was preceded in death by Judy’s brother, David Herrig; his siblings, Albert (Mary) Kilburg, Vernon Kilburg, Rita (Raymond) Roling, and Edna (Michael) Rueter; and his sisters and brother-in-law, Estelle Kilburg, Monica Kilburg, and Paul Banowetz.
