A memorial service celebrating the life of Ross Russell Stock, 87, of LeClaire, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire.
Mr. Stock died Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.
Ross Stock was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Blue Grass, the son of George and Amanda (Rearick) Stock.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He farmed in early years and was employed at Alcoa for over 30 years. He also dug graves at several Scott County cemeteries for many years, and did landscaping and concrete work.
His hobbies were gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Chris Stock-Johnson, Davenport, Tim (Nancy) Stock, Bettendorf, Holly (Ray) Maier, Lodi, Wis., Todd (Linda) Nevins, Hillsdale, Ill., and James Ray Jr., LeClaire; his grandchildren, Eric, Jamie, Kristen, Ty, and Rebecca; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his soulmate of 44 years, Bonnie Ray, on July 6, 2019; a grandson, Nicholas; and 16 brothers and sisters.
