Obituary: Ronald Ralfs

Ronald G. Ralfs, 80, of Eldridge, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Ronald was born in Davenport on June 1, 1937, to Raymond and Ruby Meyer Ralfs.

Ron graduated from Davenport High School in 1955.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  Ron married Marilyn M. Hein on Nov. 5, 1960, in Davenport.  He farmed in Scott County his entire life on his family’s heritage farm.

He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, the Maysville Fire Department and city council, former president of the River Valley Coop and Scott County Pork Producers.  He was a director of the Scott County Beef Producers and American Mutual Insurance. 

He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and attending his grandchildren’s activities.  He was one of the North Scott Lancers’ biggest fans.

Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 17, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. 

Interment was in the Maysville Cemetery.

Ron is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn of Eldridge, his sons:  Terry (Lori) Ralfs of Maysville, Troy (Cherie) Ralfs of Cedar Rapids, Travis (Missy) Ralfs of Eldridge, grandchildren:  Zach (Amanda), Ryan (Aly),  Madalyn (Andrew) Stastny, Lydia, Aiden, Addisyn, Nora and Evan, great granddaughter Everly and his brother Roger (Dolores) Ralfs of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Maysville Cemetery Association, Maysville Fire Department or the Lancer Athletic Booster Legacy Fund in his memory.
