Obituary: Robert Wilson

A graveside funeral service celebrating the life of Robert F. Wilson, 91, of Davenport, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Runge Mortuary.

Mr. Wilson died Monday, June 10, 2019, at Manor Care Hospice, Bettendorf.

Robert Wilson was born Jan. 7, 1928, in Robinson, Ill., the son of Franklin and Elsie (Bright) Wilson.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946 and served overseas in the South Pacific building air strips. He held the title of Corporal (Technician Fifth Grade).

He married Kay Kline on Nov. 10, 1967, in Rock Island.

He operated Bi-State Crane Company, and later Wilson Construction.

He was a member of the Local 537 Engineers, John Deere Green Club, Moose, Eagles, and Izaak Walton League.

His hobbies were racing his modified stock car, collecting antique tractors, and going to the Walcott Coliseum on Friday nights.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Brenda (John) Swanson, Walcott; a son, Rick (Cathy) Wilson, Atlanta, Ga.; a granddaughter, Kayla (Michael) Black; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin (Wilson) Murphy; a grandson, Casey Wilson; and a sister, Evelyn Van De Sompele.
