A funeral service for Robert J. Doty, 71, of Eldridge, was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park.
Mr. Doty died Wednesday, May 25, 2019, at UnityPoint Health, Bettendorf.
Robert Doty was born Oct. 18, 1947, in Davenport, the son of Dale and Mary (Tompkins) Doty.
He married Darlene Nelson on Oct. 8, 1966, in Bettendorf.
He retired from John Deere Davenport Works after 30 years of employment. He served with the Scott County Sheriff's Reserves as a posse member.
He was a member of the Milan Rifle Club, Single Action Shooters Society (SASS), and the National Rifle Association.
His hobbies were traveling on his motorcycle, participating in cowboy shoots, hunting, running, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; his children, Tonya Verhelst, Tad (Stephanie) Doty, and Tricia (Joe) Schwitzer, all of Davenport; his grandchildren, Andrea McCann, Ashley Mickelson, Lucas Verhelst, Gabrielle Doty, and Alexis Doty; six great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Alan (Maureen) Doty, Orlando, Fla., Donna (Roy) Guldenpfennig, Rapids City, Ill., Marj (Anthony) Murks, Huntsville, Ala., Joe (Bonnie) Doty, Ocoee, Fla., and Mary (Charly) Monzon and Melanie Kershner, all of Pasadena, Texas.
