Obituary: Robert Arnold

A funeral service for Robert LuVerne Arnold, 90, of Eldridge, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 24, from 4-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Mr. Arnold died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019.

Robert Arnold was born May 1, 1929, in Burr Oak, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Gladys (Cassel) Arnold. He graduated from Davenport Central High School.

He served during the Korean conflict and was a chosen member of General Matthew Ridgeway and General Mark Clark’s Honor Guard.

He married Mary Lane on July 12, 1951, in Rock Island.

He was the owner of Quint City Plastering for over 25 years. He was a recognized Master Plasterer. He trained many Quad City past and present plasterers. He also worked as a professional construction estimator in later years.

He was a Golden Gloves boxer in his youth and a former Little League coach.

Survivors include his wife; his sons, Dave (Belinda), Joel (Lisa), Matt (Donna), Brad (Lisa), and Brett (Vicki); his grandchildren, Josh (Mary), Ryan (Krysta), Joseph (Joelle), Jake, Nick, Nate, Sam, and Alexis; three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Norma Engler, Eldridge, and Jan Moeller, Davenport; and a sister-in-law, Judy Arnold, Davenport.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Arnold; a sister, Carmen “Connie” Thompson; and his brothers, Dale Arnold, Duayne Arnold, Neil Arnold, Darrell Arnold, and Arland Arnold.
