Obituary: Renee Sinksen

A memorial service celebrating the life of Renee Ann Sinksen, 41, of Walcott, was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, in the gymnasium at Walcott School. Immediately following the service, a gathering was held at the Walcott Coliseum. Private burial will be held at a later date. The Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Sinksen died Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a 10-month battle with stage 4 colon cancer.

Renee Bell was born March 24, 1977, in Davenport, the daughter of Ray and Wanda (Smith) Bell. She graduated from Davenport Central High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from The University of Iowa, and a master’s degree in special education from St. Ambrose University.

She married Arthur “Art” Sinksen on Aug. 3, 2002, in Bettendorf.

She taught for 19 years in elementary education at Walcott School and in intermediate education at Wood Intermediate School.

She had served as coach of the Davenport North High School Color Guard and treasurer of the Walcott PTA. She was a member of the Walcott Women and the Walcott Ball (WAB).

Her hobbies were bowling, Zumba, and crochet.

Survivors include her husband; her children, Isabel, Paige and Addie Sinksen, all of Walcott; her parents, Ray and Wanda Bell, Davenport; and a sister, Rhonda Eckhart, Davenport.

Memorials may be made to the Renee Sinksen Memorial Fund for the future education of her children.
