Obituary: Mildred Mueller

A funeral service for Mildred Irene Mueller, 99, of Donahue, was held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Burial was in Allens Grove Cemetery, rural Donahue. Visitation was Thursday, April 11, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mueller died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at her home.

Mildred Whisler was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Donahue, the daughter of Eldie and Irene (Oehrlein) Whisler.

She married Leonard Mueller on July 21, 1937, at Immanuel Lutheran Church parsonage, Grand Mound. He preceded her in death.

She and her husband lived and farmed on the Whisler family farm since 1948.

Her hobbies were spending time with her family, going to “500” card club, music, dancing, going for rides, and wordseek puzzle books.

Survivors include a daughter, Margie Thiering, Walcott; a son, Garry Mueller, Donahue; her granddaughters, Michelle (Clark) Cook and Marla (Mark) Freeman; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marcella Grau, DeWitt.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ron Thiering; a sister, Elaine Matherly; and  brothers-in-law, Vern “Butch” Grau and Harold Matherly.

Memorials may be made to the Donahue Fire Department or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
