Obituary: Mary Murrens

Mary I. Murrens, 89, of Moline, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m.  Thursday, April 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. A Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 (today), at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Mary was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Long Grove, a daughter of August and Margaret Eileen Murphy Loussaert. She married Edward L. Murrens on Oct. 26, 1957, in Long Grove. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2020.

She was a registered nurse and worked for John Deere Harvester for 24 years and a life-long caregiver to many. She enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, earning the name of “Grandma Great”.

Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline.

Surviving are her sons, Steve (Kathy) Murrens, Davenport, and Dave (Toni) Murrens, Lake Forest, Ill.; grandchildren, Michael (Kristine) Murrens, Hayle (Mitchell) Heydenberk, Hannah (Jason) Woodruff and Karli (Josh) Clement; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Teresa) Loussaert, Missouri; sister, Janet Kanyock, Connecticut; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; son, Greg Murrens; and her brother, Gene Loussaert.
