Obituary: Mary Gribbons

A funeral service for Mary P. Gribbons, 66, of Davenport, was held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation was two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire.

Mrs. Gribbons died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City.

Mary Goff was born Oct. 21, 1951, in Princeton, Mo., the daughter of James and Mary (Hamilton) Goff. She graduated from Clarke Community High School, Osceola, in 1970. She earned three associates degrees from Scott Community College and was licensed by the Foursquare Church in 1981.

She married Michael Gribbons on May 21, 1977, in Osceola.

She had worked for many years as a legal secretary for various attorneys in Wisconsin and Iowa. She and her husband had pastored in the Foursquare churches in Osceoloa, Marinette, Wis., and LeClaire for 40 years.

Survivors include her husband; her sisters, Lea (Cliff) Welsh, Bethany, Mo., Lorene (Jeff) Tenney, Vinton, Iowa, and Sara (Eddie) Koenig, south Missouri; a brother, Andy (Linda) Goff, Ankeny; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Allison; her parents; and her stepfather, George Flint.
