Obituary: Loretta Buchheit

A gathering to celebrate the life of Loretta Joy Buchheit, 86, of LeClaire, was held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Inurnment was in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire.

Mrs. Buchheit died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.

Loretta Thompson was born July 15, 1932, in North Dakota, the daughter of Pedar and Laura (Grabinger) Thompson.

She married Francis “Bill” Buchheit on July 22, 1950, in Davenport.

She worked at LeClaire State Bank for 39 years, and worked at McCarthy Bush Real Estate.

She was a member of Our Lady of the River Catholic Church, the Catholic Service Board and the LeClaire Chamber of Commerce, and volunteered at Cinderella’s Cellar in Davenport.

Survivors include her husband; her children, Murray “Boo” (Kris) Buchheit, Ames, Beth (Joe) Ackerman, LeClaire, and Lisa (Steve) Williams, Eldridge; her grandchildren, Kara Silverthorn, Joe (Oie) Ackerman, Joshua (Erica) Ackerman, and Alex Buchheit; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (Gene) Bremmer, Parker Prairie, Minn.; and a brother, Patrick (Laurie) Thompson, Alexandria, Minn.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Buchheit; and her siblings, Delores, Arlene, Mary Jane, Gerry, and Loren.
