Obituary: Laverne Puck

Visitation for Laverne “Vern” Puck, 78, of Davenport, was held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Private family graveside burial was Wednesday (today) in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport.

Mr. Puck died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Laverne Puck was born Dec. 17, 1940, the son of Edgar and Evelyn (Schnoor) Puck. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1959.

He served in the U.S. Marine Reserves.

He married Lois Strohbehn on June 23, 1962.

He worked as Burroughs (later Unisys), where he retired as a service technician after 33 years. He later operated VP Enterprises in computer and printer sales and service.

His hobbies were bowling, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Sandra (Mike) McGrath, and Cindy (Chris) Staebell; and his grandchildren, Mallory, Lauren and Zach McGrath, Gabriella, Nick and Emma Morgan, and Kate and Grace Staebell.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Eleanor Casserly and Ronald Puck.
