Obituary: Larry Brinning

A funeral service for Larry R. Brinning, 66, of Durant, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Calvary United Methodist Church, Walcott. Interment was in the Walcott Cemetery. Visitation was Monday, Oct. 2, from 4-7 p.m. at the church. The Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Brinning died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.

Larry Brinning was born Jan. 9, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Merle and Margaret (Anderson) Brinning. He graduated from Keota High School in 1969, and from Muscatine Community College in 1971.

He served in the Iowa Army National Guard.

He married Marti Warnecke on June 23, 1974, in Walcott.

He worked for Twin States/Liqui-Grow in Walcott, Durant, and Wilton for over 30 years, and co-owned Tri-County Lawn Service.

His hobbies were having coffee with friends, snowmobiling, classic cars, especially his Model T, jet skiing, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Brittney (Bryan) Benson, Bettendorf, Bridget (Adam) Schulte, Waukee, and Brooke (Aaron) Franck, Davenport; three grandchildren, Brady, Brylee and Carson; and his brothers, Bill (Myung) Brinning, Houston, and his twin, Lanny (Margie) Brinning, Keota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Brett, in 1979.

Memorials may be made to The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
