Obituary: Kenneth Wolverton

A private family burial will be held in Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date for Kenneth Harlan Wolverton, 95, of Bettendorf. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Wolverton died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at Trinity Hospital, Bettendorf.

Kenneth Wolverton was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Davenport, the son of George and Ruth (Beaucock) Wolverton. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946, and was stationed in Europe during World War II.

He married Edythe Williams on Nov. 25, 1950. She preceded him in death.

He worked at the Savanna Army Depot. He later worked as an engineer at Ametek Inc. in East Moline. He was transferred to Arlington, Texas, and retired in 1981.

His hobbies were entertaining family and friends, boating, and fishing.

Survivors include his children, Judy (Bob) Bebber, Westminster, Colo., Jan (Jim) Jeffery, Moline, Jim Wolverton (Beth Pierce), Austin, Texas, and Jack (Kate) Wolverton, Pace, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, June Rothlauf, and a brother, Dale Wolverton.
