A memorial service for Judith Mae Swanson, 75, of Iowa Falls, formerly of Eldridge, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Inurnment will be in Davenport Memorial Park immediately following the service. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home, with cremation to follow.
Mrs. Swanson died Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, at Select Specialty Hospital, Des Moines.
Judith Simkins was born Feb. 19, 1944, in Ainsworth, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Anna (Dearborn) Simkins. She graduated from Davenport West High School in 1962.
She married Dick Swanson on Jan. 9, 1963, in Rock Island.
She was an in-home daycare provider for several years, and later became a custodian for the North Scott School District, retiring in 1995.
Her hobbies were doing word search puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; her children, Rick Swanson and Kris (Tim) Hermsen, all of Iowa Falls, and Jason (Kelly) Swanson, Minneapolis; her grandchildren, Kelsey, Tyler, Travis, Calvin and Lucie; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Merle May.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Shirley Owens, Ernest Simkins, Phyllis Caito, David Simkins, Fred Simkins, and Linda Smith.
