Obituary: John Santee

A funeral service for John Wesley Santee III, 78, Davenport, was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Friday at the mortuary. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Santee died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019.

John Santee was born Nov. 2, 1940, in Eldridge, the son of Levera (Bergert) and John Wesley Santee II.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was a bricklayer and helped build the former Mercy Hospital in Davenport and the Taxslayer Center, along with many prominent buildings in Scott County.

His hobbies were talking to his children, taking care of his yard and gardening, and taking care of his Chevy.

Survivors include his children, Jamey Santee, Windsor, Calif., and Sheri Santee, Ukiah, Calif.; his close friend and the mother of his children, Alice Welsh; a sister, Phyllis Hoffmann, Las Vegas, Nev.; and a brother, Lloyd Santee, Eldridge.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Fedrick (Davenport), and his brothers, Gene and Gerald Santee.
