Obituary: Jerome Hansen

A funeral service for Jerome C. “Jerry” Hansen, 90, of Davenport, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation was two hours prior to the service on Monday at the church. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Hansen died Monday, July 15, 2019, at UnityPoint Hospital, Bettendorf.

Jerome Hansen was born July 9, 1929, in Marinette, Wis., the son of Clarence and Gertrude (Weissgerber) Hansen. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Missouri for four years.

He married Barbara Enstrom on Aug. 15, 1953, in Marinette.

He worked for Caterpillar, retiring after 30 years. He was the plant controller for the Mt. Joy plant. He was a certified management accountant.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Scott Rotary 39-year member and past treasurer, and Pinnacle Country Club.

His hobbies were watching sports and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Craig (Karen) Hansen, Laurie (Bill) Bibo, and Christina (Jeff) Gagnon; his grandchildren, Melinda, Joe, Sonya, Shaun, Justin, Melanie, Katelyn, and Joshua; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Connie Peters.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the Figge Art Museum.
