Obituary: Irene Krambeck

Irene Amanda Krambeck, 94, a resident of Grand Haven in Eldridge, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at Grand Haven.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, at the church. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or American Diabetes Association. Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on Dec. 17, 1922, in rural Scott County, Irene was the daughter of Henry and Anna (Stoltenberg) Matzen. On Dec. 4, 1944, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, Irene married Eldon F. Krambeck. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2001.

Irene was a homemaker, raising her children on the family farm. At age 50, Irene began working at Von Maur’s, retiring after 25 years of having fun. She enjoyed dancing, big band music, and playing cards, belonging to different card clubs in the area. Irene loved spending time with her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Rebecca (Gary) Cook of Bettendorf, and Susan Weaver of Waipahu, Hawaii; sons, Donald (Karen) Krambeck of Davenport, Charles (Pat) Krambeck of Ottawa, Kan., Dennis (Janet) Krambeck of Eldridge, Keith (Pam) Krambeck of Long Grove, James (Debbie) Krambeck of Mt. Joy, Kent (Anne) Krambeck of Davenport, and Gary (Emily) Krambeck of Calamus; 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette (Ron) Stoltenberg of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mark; son-in-law, Scott Weaver and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Krambeck; great-grandson, Jacob; three brothers and one sister.
