A celebration of life service for Helen I. Montgomery, 88, of Davenport, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Grace United Methodist Church, Davenport. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation was Friday, May 17, from 4-7 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.
Mrs. Montgomery died Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.
Helen Lowder was born April 26, 1931, in Brighton, Iowa, the daughter of Alva and Cynthia (Rich) Lowder.
She married James Montgomery on June 4, 1950, in Pleasant Plain, Iowa.
She worked as a receiver at Venture for 21 years, retiring in 1990.
Her hobbies were bowling, playing golf, crocheting, listening to country music, watching television, cooking, going out to eat, and traveling.
Survivors include her husband; children, Jim (Barb) Montgomery and Nancy (Ron) Knutsen; her grandchildren, James (Jessica) Montgomery, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Montgomery, and Michael (Andrea) Zielstorf; three great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and her sisters-in-law, Ruth Lowder and Mildred Lowder.
She was preceded in death by Jason Knutsen and two brothers, Joe Lowder and Wayne Lowder.
