Obituary: Garland 'Bud' Plies

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date for Garland “Bud” Plies, 79, of Davenport. Private burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Plies died Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Genesis East Medical Center.

Garland Plies was born March 2, 1940, in Nebraska, the son of Carl and Margaret (Brown) Plies.

He married Joyce Bartell on July 19, 1958, in Ottumwa.

He retired from Oscar Mayer after 31 years of service.

He was a member of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club.

His hobbies were riding motorcycles, working on cars, going to races, racing stock cars, camping, and traveling.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Jeffery Plies, Tony Plies, Tammy (Ken) Jacobs, and Todd Plies; his grandchildren, Jeffery (Tara) Plies Jr., Tiffany Postell, Nick (Sasha) Plies, Emma Plies, Grant Plies, Jamie (Brian) Cronkleton, and Jennifer (Chad) Chamberlin; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verleen (Rex) Morrow.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Caroline, and a brother, Carroll.
