Eugene Mayerhofer
Eugene Mayerhofer, age 76, of New Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at his home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 12 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland with Pastor Tessa Cavey officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. A lunch will follow the service at 1 p.m. at the Dixon Legion.
Eugene was born on Sept. 5, 1941, to William and Myrtle (Sievers) Mayerhofer in Davenport. He married Loanna Lea Kuster on Aug. 9, 1959, in Big Rock.
Eugene liked to hunt and fish, and archery (bow hunting) was his passion. He worked for Wendling Quarries for 52 years and also enjoyed stock car racing.
He is survived by his wife, Loanna; children Rick (Ruth) of Walcott, Chuck (Ronda) of Dixon, and Drake (Shelly) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Mara, Aubry, Jeremy Meyer, C.J., Brandon, Karissa Lea, and Miranda; and 10 great- grandchildren.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenny.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Parkinson’s research.
