Darrell was born Feb. 28, 1953, in Davenport, the son of Arnold and Edna (Wulf) Engler.  He farmed all his life in the rural Long Grove/Donahue area.  He also was a heavy equipment operator for Elmer Knapper for a number of years, along with helping his fellow farm neighbors with baling round bales.  He loved to hunt, especially deer, rabbits and pheasants, and watch Western TV shows, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Cassandra Engler, Long Grove; son, Daron Engler, Davenport; grandchildren:  Devin and Trever Gheer, Izabella Hollingsworth and Kynzlee Schwerdtfeger; siblings Darlene John, Eldridge, Diane (Gary) Wulf, Donahue, and William (Kim) Engler, Princeton; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  His parents; sister Beverly (James) Smith; and a brother-in-law, Leonard John, preceded him in death.
