Craig Alan Ohl, age 53, of Eldridge, passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2024, at his home. A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The family greeted friends from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the family to be used for the Ohl Family North Scott Wrestling Scholarship.

Craig was born on June 11, 1970, to Steven and Linda (Lenser) Ohl. He graduated from North Scott High School in 1989, where he wrestled and placed sixth at the Iowa State Meet. Craig graduated from Luther College in 1993, where he majored in business, wrestled and played golf. He worked at Grainger in Davenport for 20 plus years.

Even though Craig lived with physical challenges and adversity, he never complained and used it to draw strength. Craig was a wrestling fan of the Lancers and Hawkeyes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting ducks from his camouflaged chair, and golf. He always caught the largest fish when out with others. He even skipped a final exam at Luther to land a big trout he saw earlier in the stream.

Craig had a big heart, and was a great brother, son, uncle, nephew and friend. He is survived by his father, Steven (Sonya) Ohl; sister-in-law, Peggy Ohl; nephews, Tom Ohl and Charlie Ohl; aunt, Carol (Dave) Davis; uncle, Rick (Wendy) Ohl; and several cousins, and friends.

Craig was preceded in death by his brother Brent Ohl; his mother Linda Ohl; grandparents Twila and Jack Ohl, Violet and Ralph Lenser; and aunt and uncle Gordan and Jackie Hull; and his very favorite cat, General Patton.

Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting his obituary at www.hmdfuneralhome.com.
