A funeral service for Castella McMahan, 78, of Davenport, will be held at noon on Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.
Ms. McMahan died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at the Lynblomsten Care Center, St. Paul, Minn.
Castella Whitfield was born April 28, 1941, in Crawfordsville, Ark., the daughter of Cassie and Horace Whitfield.
Survivors include her children, Carolyn (Michael) Jones, St. Paul, Ida (Dempsey) Miller, Apoka, Fla., Milton Whitfield, Iowa City, Charlie (Patrice) McMahan, Cedar Rapids, Arnell (Shelley) McMahan, Pukwana, S.D., LaGail McMahan, St. Paul, and Deon McMahan, St. Paul; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Nora Williams, Columbus, Ga., Bessie (John) Wilson, Rock Island, Elle Spearman, Rock Island, Esther Dillion, Tulsa, Okla., Remell (Joseph) Shaw, West Memphis, Ark., Barbara (Vurdy) Reel, West Memphis, Lula (Daniel) Davies, Little Rock, Ark., Nylon Barlow, Memphis, Tenn., Willie (Jutta) Whitfield, Davenport, Pastor Lonnie (Renee) Whifield, Olive Branch, Miss., and Ray Charles (Flora) Moon, West Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Archie Whitfield and Danny Whitfield; and her brothers, Jimmie Lee Brown, Joe Whitfield, Henry Whitfield, and Nate Kimbrough.
