Obituary: Carol Coe

Carol Ruth Coe, age 86, of Walcott, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 28, at Calvary United Methodist Church, Walcott.  A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, July 27, at the church.  Burial of her cremated remains will take place at a later date in Walcott Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Carol was born on May 31, 1937, the daughter of Noble “Bob” and Hilda (Chase) White in Iowa City.  She graduated from West Liberty High School with the Class of 1955.  Carol married Paul A. Coe on April 12, 1957, in West Liberty.  Paul passed away on Nov. 10, 1994.  She later married Delbert “Bing” Lamp.

Carol was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family.  After her children started attending school, Carol drove a school bus for Davenport Community Schools for over 25 years. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where she participated in the bell and vocal choir, and was an active volunteer throughout her 62-year membership.  She was an avid quilter and seamstress and enjoyed puzzles, traveling, and volunteering in her community.  Most of all, Carol loved spending time with her family.

Carol will be dearly missed by her four children, Tami (Corey) Nichols of Wapello, Laura (David) McCall of West Des Moines, Richard Coe of Dixon, and Paul Coe of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Josh (Abbi Altimus) Nichols, Miranda (Justin) Fletcher, Michael (Julia Nichol) McCall, Chris (Cassie) Nichols, Meghan (Michael) Caldwell, Allison (Eliott Kuchera) Coe, and Jenna (Zach Rowland) Coe; and two great-grandchildren, Finnigan Fletcher and Roselva Nichols.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; one daughter-in-law, Keri Coe; and two brothers, Johnny and Herb White.
